Sprucing Up A Bodyline Petticoat

I wanted to mention a simple sewing project for you guys. Take a few yards of lace (You might need up to 6 yards if I'm remembering right, just measure before you order!!) and sew it to the hem line of your petticoat.

I've done this with both a black and white Bodyline petti, and I feel it adds a little more volume and ruffle. Plus, if your petti shows at all, now you can actually see really pretty lace instead of just tulle!

Depending on the lace you use, it will add more weight so please be careful to not deflate your petti too much. The white carousel lace I'm using here is VERY thin and light and not scratchy so I think it does the job! I think this is a nice way to add some value and flare to an otherwise very plain and relatively cheap petticoat:

Honestly, this is a pretty easy project. It just takes some time and can feel a little blah just sewing in a straight line for a few yards :P You can pin the lace, or just lazily free-hand it like I did. It doesn't show much, so a tiny bit of length variation doesn't matter much to me lol!

I really wish more places sold novelty lace with things like carousels and music notes on them :( I got both of these decorative laces on Ebay! You can find many sellers there who sell by the yard, even vintage laces are readily available. Have fun :)

Get your Card Game On!

Feeling lucky? Get your card game on! I really love card themed prints and accessories >w< I wish I could find the innocent world coat "King of Spades" coat in my size, but I have long arms and broad shoulders...Maybe someday I'll find something similar in a larger size. I also love this little bunny/casino print for the JSK! Card game accessories and items are pretty easy to pair with Alice themed items as well, as cards and suits are a big influence in theme.

I could see wearing things like this while lounging around a Casino for an afternoon, or just playing some card games with friends at home or a cafe ^_^

~ Halloween 2017 ~

Do you have any plans for Halloween? I'm still looking for that PERFECT Halloween dress...This one here is pretty close. Although it does have a cartoonish style, all the colorways look great and I just love the sweet ponies and bunnies on it :( It's always sad though, because it seems like the dresses are never released in time to actually get them by October ><

Enjoy this handful of other dresses I've discovered this year, and let me know which you like most and least ^_~ Are these too tacky for you? Do you love the designs? Are you tired of seeing batwings incorporated into blouses and jsks yet? Which Halloween theme/monster/etc would you like to see represented more in the fashion?

1)  2)

3) 4)

And I almost forgot...I got a spooky scary BAT BAG!!
It also comes in white, and you have the option for pearls or no pearls...it's quite large. The only thing I'm worried about are the little pointy parts getting smashed down over time xwx I'll try to be careful with it...

Fruity Summer Prints

I kept seeing fruit themed prints this summer, so I thought I'd post a few of the ones I could find again looking back through all the updates!

Avenue Denfer Sailor OP & MilkyWay Jellyfish Bag

Here are two facts you may not know about me:
1. I've never actually owned an OP before. (broad shoulders, plus I appreciate versatility of jsks)
2. I've never dressed in Sailor style Lolita. (never really saw one that stood out to me I suppose)

Well, both those things are going to change when this arrives:

I didn't get the matching bag, or wristcuffs, but I DID get the hat >< omg...I'm going to be a weird little sailor but I love it thouuuggghhhh. I hope it looks okaaaayyy ;o; I have some blue shoes that will probably match, but I will be getting dark blue shoes when I can. I'll also most likely be pairing this with a more plain sock/tights, something white most likely.

Close up of the front detail

I actually ordered it from LolitaWardrobe, though I did keep checking the TaoBao (it just never seemed to update or something) Then, a few days later, I found this freakin' thing:

JELLYFISH BAG WITH PEARLS AND BOWS...YESSSsss

It's a smaller bag than I normally use, but how can I say no to this? Usually you see shell bags paired with nautical themes, but I've never seen a jellyfish bag THIS cute. They even have 2 colors, so check the TaoBao out when you can. I've only done the preorder, so I need to keep checking back to see when they post the 2nd part of payment up.

*UPDATE: I actually wasn't able to get the OP to fit my shoulders comfortably :( It was sooo pretty....I just hate stiff fabric on my shoulders x_x! Oh well...I'm still ordering the bag!

Diamond Honey - In Search of Dragon with Knight Cat

More cats, dressed like people, doing non-cat-like things....and it's so intricate! I don't think I've seen a print like this before either, where it's sort of oil painting style, but also a parody, and wrapping around the whole skirt. I think I like the purple/darker colorway myself over the red. What do you think? Actually, I'm not even sure of the print name. That's just what google translate told me from the TaoBao shop, so you'll have to check it out yourself here.

Infanta - Miss Strawberry JSK in Black

Well, as some Lolis do, I'm trying to get rid of some of my old Bodyline purchases and swap for something new and better fitting. I'm selling off my Chocoberry Bodyline skirt on ebay to get this black strawberry JSK from Infanta (not that the prices are anywhere near equal, but it helps) I really like how the pinks and reds pop on the print, and darker colors are definitely more my thing. I'm excited to make some outfits with it.

The dress came wrapped in plastic, and was put into a pink Infanta plastic bag (that I will be reusing for various things I'm sure)

And the print is bright and vibrant just as I hoped for! ^_^
It's dark out, so the lighting inside is pretty bad in the next pics. But hopefully you get the idea of the outfit here! I'm thinking to just wear black tights, but it's already getting really hot so I sooo want to skip them xUx at least it's versatile. I also think pink shoes might work too. The head piece is from this post!

Dark Rose of Spring - DIY Floral Headdress

Oooh dramatic title ♥ Anyway, here is a headpiece I made just this morning! I used flowers from old headbands I wasn't using, some faux flowers and satin ribbon from ebay, a dollar store headband that came in a pack of 3, hot glue, and one or two clips from Claire's. Plus, some embroidered lace I had stocked away!
Honestly the only part I don't like is the ribbon wrapped on the bottom to keep the headband thin, but that part tends to get hidden by hair and such...so I'm not too worried. I could've done a cleaner job, but hey.

Perfect with any black blouse, and it oddly enough, it matches the Infanta strawberry JSK I just got? I will have to post some coord pics soon. I'm planning to do a blue/gold/black version of this for another skirt I ordered xUx

If you're interested in the steps I did to make it, here is the rundown:
1) Get a solid/hard headband, the wider it is the more room you have to work with. The one I used here was pretty thin, about half an inch.

2) Glue lace or a strip of ribbon/fabric to the headband if you'd like to cover it with something that will fit your overall theme better. I covered a black headband with pink, and black & pastel embroidered lace. It's nice to see it poking through the flowers!

3) Wrap the base of the headband (the part that rests right behind your ears) so it's thinner, and will hide better in your hair. Ribbon or fabric can work, and you can glue or sew it secure.

4) Start gluing your largest pieces to the headband. If you aren't sure where to start, lay the pieces around the headband to see if you like the look before committing.

tip: keep trying the headpiece on as you go, then you will know what areas need adjusting!

5) Fill in gaps with smaller pieces to make the headdress look fuller. Here, filled in big gaps that the black roses left with smaller pink and beige flowers. Don't forget the back of the headpiece! I didn't get a pic here, but I just added a few small flowers to fill in gaps in the back too. Not as nice as the front, but still cute.

Lolita Au Printemps - Lolita in Spring

Something I put together for fun, and for the first GLP magazine...hopefully they can use it somewhere xUx I was going for spring-like, but not traditional pastels and such. Lolita au Printemps apparently means Lolita in Spring! Sorry if it's not right though, I took Japanese not French >^<

Dream Dress - Long Ears & Sharp Ears The Kingdom of Fairies

I just keep finding dresses that aren't being made any longer...and I love fairy themes, mermaids, witches, and anything magical, so allow me to just sigh sadly at this jsk.

The bust area is simple, yet elegant with its lace and dangling pearls. I love the extra long sash (I believe it's removable so you have options) and I love that the print is detailed, yet it doesn't look annoyingly busy or loud. I also appreciate that it isn't lace a the bottom, but a complimenting fabric ruffle. Allow me to wander off into a mystical forest now, and maybe I'll find the dress there ;_;
