BtSSB x Cardcaptor Sakura
If you somehow haven't heard of Cardcaptor Sakura, perhaps you didn't realize that BtSSB made a dress based on Sakura's outfit?Apparently BtSSB doesn't have a great track record when it comes to making dresses from fandoms. The only one that I really liked was a dress from Princess Jellyfish, and the rest were black with white lace or just kinda meh. You would think it'd be a piece of cake, borrowing from a magical girl series that has a big focus on dresses and costumes anyway...there are just SO many dresses to choose from that already have lolita styles incorporated! Well, this was the design they went with, apparently based on a drawing from CLAMP for their 20th anniversary.

The top of this dress has puffed shoulders, and elbow length sleeves with ruffled lace at the ends. The bib in front looks a bit cheap for some reason, possibly because of the costume looking tie resting right on top of it. Unfortunately I can't check on what materials were used, but it looks to be some kind of shiny satin for the bulk of the dress. I think the only thing I like about this dress is from the waist down. The split in front is a nice touch, as well a symmetrical bows on either side with the star motifs. I can even handle the bright red stripes, though it wouldn't be my first choice.
Pink white and red are a staple for Cardcaptor Sakura, so it does make sense to start here for colors. I like the starry motifs around the BtSSB logo, but I'm not in love with the tie (thankfully it's removable). Granted, it isn't something you see often in Loli unless you're trying boy style or aristocrat so I appreciate the attempt. I know they were trying to create an outfit that Sakura would wear, but I feel having things FROM the series represented on the dress could work too. Clow cards, her wand, etc..there were many directions it could've gone.

Colorways and Accessories
I think if you really want to make a dress that has a Cardcaptor or Mahou Shoujo motif, you could pick a staple dress and fix it up with your own accessories! Pins, brooches, earrings, custom made hair pieces and so on. That way your main dress would have multiple uses, but can still be used as a base dress for a fandom. Some examples found after just a few mins of searching, and the beret comes in multiple colors!

Overall Rating: ♥
As much as I love seeing how people interpret outfits and accessories that are based on fandoms, especially magical girl related ones, I just can't picture wearing this dress. It looks too costumey in a bad way to me, and the shine of the fabric is not helping that. Perhaps someone out there could rock it, but with the price tag (over $600) I'll pass.
Please tell me what you guys think! Have you seen anyone actually wearing this and making it work? I'm very curious.
